IWC: Chronograph TOP GUN edition “SFTI”
15 October 2020If you thought that the 2020 novelties of the Schaffhausen Brand were limited to the Portuguese collection, you were wrong. The Pilot’s Watch squadron enriches the IWC offer with the new Chronograph TOP GUN edition “SFTI”.
Inspired by the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Edition “Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor” from 2018 with the iconic TOPGUN patch on the dial (available exclusively for pilots who have completed the Navy Fighter Weapons School), IWC presents a new limited edition in ceramic and ceratanium.
Limited to 1500 pieces, the new model comes with a 44 mm case made of black zirconium oxide ceramic and Soft-iron inner case for protection against magnetic fields. The case back and chronograph pushers are made of Ceratanium, a recent innovation from IWC’s engineers. This new material is as light and durable as titanium but at the same time as similarly hard and scratch-resistant as ceramic. Thanks to the combination of ceramic and Ceratanium, the chronograph boasts an entirely matte black design. To complete the “jet black” look of the watch, the much-loved jet red of the chronograph seconds hand, combined with the red small seconds hand, returns to fly on the black dial with black hands.
Inside the case beats the IWC in-house automatic caliber 69380 with column-wheel that ensures precise timekeeping and the measurement of stopwatch times of up to 12 hours. The watch is completed by a green textile strap with a Ceratanium buckle closure. (Price € 10.100)
