Longines expands the Legend Diver collection with the new Longines Legend Diver 59, a heritage dive watch inspired by the historic 1959 model and certified as a chronometer by the COSC. A new release that combines vintage aesthetic codes, modern performance and one of the most recognisable designs in the history of the Swiss maison’s dive watches.

The new reference L3.795.4.59.9 preserves the DNA that has made the Legend Diver famous for more than sixty years: twin crowns, an internal rotating bezel, a black grained dial and proportions faithful to the original. Elements that continue to make this model immediately recognisable within the world of modern heritage divers.
A 42 MM CASE INSPIRED BY THE ORIGINAL 1959 MODEL
The new Longines Legend Diver 59 is housed in a 42 mm stainless steel case, with a thickness of 12.85 mm and a lug-to-lug distance of 50.10 mm. The proportions deliberately remain close to those of the historic 1959 model, thus preserving the authentic character of the collection.

One of the most distinctive elements remains the iconic bidirectional internal rotating bezel, protected inside the case and operated via the screw-down crown positioned at 2 o’clock. This solution was introduced by Longines as early as 1936 and was designed to prevent accidental knocks or unintended adjustments during diving activities.
Completing the vintage aesthetic is the box-shaped sapphire crystal with black metallisation treatment and multi-layer anti-reflective coating applied on both sides. The oriented screw-down caseback also features the embossed “sub” symbol, directly recalling the maison’s historic models.
THE BLACK GRAINED DIAL AND THE LEGEND DIVER DNA
The black grained dial with black grené rehaut is one of the elements that best defines the identity of the new Longines Legend Diver 59. The configuration remains faithful to the original watch, with four painted Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock accompanied by eight segmented hour markers enhanced with inserts coated in “light Old Radium” Super-LumiNova.
To guarantee legibility in all conditions, the sandblasted rhodium-plated hands are also treated with “light Old Radium” Super-LumiNova, further reinforcing the model’s heritage character. The seconds hand also features a luminescent tip, essential for verifying the proper functioning of the watch during dives in low-light environments.
The result is a dive watch that preserves the aesthetic personality of the 1950s while offering a contemporary presence and perfectly modern legibility.
MILANESE BRACELET AND TROPIC STRAP
One of the main new features of this version of the Longines Legend Diver is the refined Milanese stainless steel bracelet, designed to offer greater comfort, wrist flexibility and aesthetic continuity with the watch’s vintage design.
The bracelet integrates a double-security folding clasp, push-button opening system and micro-adjustment mechanism, a detail that highlights Longines’ technical approach even in terms of ergonomics.
The watch is also supplied with an additional black rubber “tropic” style strap, a solution that further reinforces the timepiece’s diving spirit.
THE LONGINES L888.6 CALIBRE WITH 72 HOURS OF POWER RESERVE
Powering the new Longines Legend Diver 59 is the exclusive automatic Longines L888.6 calibre, a movement developed to ensure precision, reliability and resistance to magnetic fields.
This self-winding mechanical movement, measuring 11 ½ lignes and fitted with 21 jewels, operates at 25,200 vibrations per hour and delivers a power reserve of up to 72 hours. The presence of a silicon balance spring and advanced anti-magnetic components also ensures resistance to magnetic fields ten times greater than the ISO 764 standard.
The fully assembled watch is certified as a chronometer by the COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres), confirming the high level of precision guaranteed by the model.
AN ISO 6425 CERTIFIED DIVER WATER-RESISTANT TO 300 METRES
In addition to its chronometer certification, the new Longines Legend Diver 59 also complies with the ISO 6425standard dedicated to professional dive watches.
Water resistance reaches 30 bar, equivalent to 300 metres, with tests carried out at a pressure 25% higher than the required standard. A figure that demonstrates how this model is not merely a heritage-style exercise, but a true modern professional diver.
THE LONGINES LEGEND DIVER 59 BETWEEN PAST AND PRESENT
With the new Longines Legend Diver 59, the Swiss maison brings back one of its most iconic dive watches, combining 1950s aesthetics, COSC certification, ISO 6425 standards and a modern Longines L888.6 calibre with a 72-hour power reserve.
More than sixty years after the debut of the original model, the Longines Legend Diver 59 continues to embody the maison’s philosophy: “Elegance is an attitude”. A balance between tradition and innovation that still confirms the Legend Diver as one of the most recognisable heritage dive watches in the contemporary landscape.
