Cartier: Panthère Joueuse8 February 2017
If 2017 for the Chinese calendar is the year of the Rooster, the symbolic animal of this new year for Cartier is the panther. The French Maison, indeed, gave a large space to her collection called “Panthère”, inspired by the iconic animal of the Cartier menagerie, at the SIHH in Geneva.
Among the new models in this line, the Panthère Joueuse watch Calibre 9918 MC particularly impressed us for the playful and ironic mood in which the panther is shown through a brand new complication.
In the dial of the timepiece, the mischievous creature plays in pursuit of a ball. The calibre 9918 MC – manufacture mechanical movement with automatic winding – moves as one with the body of the panther to bring this miniature theatre to life. The minutes are indicated by the head and paw of the figure, while the hours are marked by the ball. The animal is in white gold, with emerald eyes and black lacquer spots.
In a 40mm case, Cartier concentrated the best of its exquisite craftsmanship: jewellery savoir-faire and its expertise in creating original and mysterious watch mechanisms.
