Some watches simply reference the world of aviation through colours, materials or aesthetic details. Others are capable of turning that universe into an entirely different way of reading time. The new Bell & Ross BR-03 Helipad belongs firmly to the latter category, continuing one of the Maison’s most iconic and recognisable sagas: the Flight Instruments.

Produced as a limited edition of 500 pieces, the BR-03 Helipad stems from an idea as simple as it is effective: the continuous motion of a seconds hand recalls the rotation of a helicopter’s rotor blades. From this analogy, Bell & Ross has created a dial that becomes a miniature animated scene, with a helicopter seemingly hovering above its helipad and every element of the aircraft playing a role in the display of time.
FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS: AVIATION ON THE WRIST
To truly understand the BR-03 Helipad, one must start with the relationship between Bell & Ross and aviation. Since the brand was founded in 1994, the world of professional instruments has represented one of its main areas of exploration, but it was with the launch of the BR-01 in 2005 that this connection found its most recognisable expression. The famous “circle within a square” concept, with four screws at the corners, symbolically transferred a cockpit instrument directly onto the wrist and became the Maison’s defining aesthetic signature.
It was from this philosophy that the Flight Instruments saga took shape, becoming one of the most original and recognisable expressions of Bell & Ross. The idea is to reinterpret genuine aeronautical instruments through ever-changing ways of displaying time. Over the years, this approach has given rise to the Radar and Red Radar, with rotating discs inspired by radar screens, followed by the Altimeter, the HUD and, more recently, the BR-03 GMT Compass and BR-03 Gyrocompass. The new BR-03 Helipad continues this story while changing perspective: this time, the dial does not reinterpret an onboard instrument, but stages an entire aeronautical scene in motion.
BR-03 HELIPAD: A HELICOPTER HOVERING ABOVE THE HELIPAD
The idea behind the Bell & Ross BR-03 Helipad came from observing the continuous circular motion of a seconds hand. Seen from the right perspective, its rotation inevitably recalls that of a helicopter rotor.

Bell & Ross built the entire display around this analogy. The dial becomes a helipad viewed from above, while at its centre sits the silhouette of a helicopter seemingly hovering over it. The result is a dynamic, multi-level display that, despite using an automatic movement with conventional hours, minutes and seconds functions, offers a distinctly unconventional representation of time.
The hours are displayed on a rotating black disc representing the helipad, with a yellow marker coated in green-emission Super-LumiNova X2 moving around the peripheral scale. The minutes are indicated by the helicopter itself, with the nose of the aircraft serving as the reference point against the outer scale. Finally, the helicopter blades replace the traditional seconds hand, rotating continuously at the centre of the dial.

It is this final element that brings the entire concept to life. When looking at the watch, the spinning rotor creates the illusion of a helicopter genuinely hovering above its helipad. An animation achieved not through an additional complication, but through a creative reinterpretation of the three fundamental indications of time.
41 MM BLACK CERAMIC CASE AND SUPER-LUMINOVA X2
To house this unusual dial architecture, Bell & Ross has chosen the contemporary 41 mm BR-03 case, a size that retains the collection’s characteristic wrist presence while offering greater versatility than the proportions of the original BR-01.

The case is crafted from micro-blasted black ceramic, with a matte finish that reinforces the watch’s technical character and creates a sharp contrast with the yellow elements of the dial and strap. The case measures just 10.60 mm thick, while water resistance is rated to 100 metres. Protecting the dial is an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, an especially important feature for a watch in which the visual experience lies at the heart of the entire concept.

The colour scheme is also closely connected to aviation and, more specifically, air rescue operations. The yellow used for the large helipad circle and the elements involved in reading the hours creates a strong contrast against the black background, recalling the visual codes associated with safety and maximum visibility.
In the dark, the elements treated with green-emission Super-LumiNova X2 completely transform the appearance of the watch, evoking the atmosphere of illuminated instruments inside the cockpit of a rescue helicopter.
BR-CAL.327 AUTOMATIC CALIBRE WITH 54 HOURS OF POWER RESERVE
Powering the distinctive display of the BR-03 Helipad is the BR-CAL.327 automatic calibre, offering a 54-hour power reserve.
The movement retains the three fundamental indications of hours, minutes and seconds, but distributes them across the rotating helipad disc, the helicopter silhouette and its rotor blades. This is one of the most interesting aspects of the project: rather than pursuing mechanical complexity for its own sake, Bell & Ross focuses on how information is presented, transforming a conventional mechanical architecture into an entirely different visual experience.
It is a solution perfectly aligned with the philosophy of the Flight Instruments, where the display has always been the true field of experimentation. Rather than the complication itself, what matters is how information is communicated and the visual connection it creates with the world of aviation.
TWO STRAPS AND A LIMITED PRODUCTION OF 500 PIECES
Completing the Bell & Ross BR-03 Helipad are two interchangeable straps, designed to reveal two different sides of the same watch.
The first is made from yellow rubber and is the option most closely connected to the model’s identity, echoing the colour of the helipad on the dial and the visual codes of air rescue operations. The second is crafted from ultra-resistant black synthetic fabric, giving the watch a more understated and technical character, closer to the world of professional equipment. The pin buckle is made from micro-blasted steel with a matte black PVD coating.

Limited to just 500 pieces and priced at €. 4,700, the Bell & Ross BR-03 Helipad, reference BR03A-HE-CE/SRB, adds one of the most immediate and visually striking interpretations yet to the Flight Instruments saga.
Having transformed radar screens, altimeters, Head-Up Displays and navigation instruments into wristwatches, Bell & Ross has now shifted its perspective: rather than bringing an instrument found inside a helicopter to the wrist, it brings the helicopter itself.

And perhaps this is precisely the most successful aspect of the new BR-03 Helipad. Behind its immediate and almost playful appearance lies an idea perfectly consistent with more than two decades of aviation-inspired design: observing something that belongs to the world of flight, understanding its language and transforming it into a new way of reading time.
