Description
The Lange 1 Time Zone, likely thanks to the customization options afforded by its city ring, has the most variations within the A. Lange & Söhne collection. Since its debut in 2005 and until its update in 2020, this world timer watch has been available in over 20 different editions, with variations in case material, dial color, city ring, and bracelet and strap options. Despite these differences, all models share the same case and movement design.
The Lange 1 Time Zone measures 41.9 mm in diameter and 11 mm thick, making it 3.4 mm wider and 1.2 mm thicker than the standard Lange 1. The extra width accommodates the city ring, while the additional thickness is due to the second time zone mechanism. The proportions are balanced, allowing the timepiece to sit comfortably on the wrist. The watch featured here is a white gold ref. 136.029 circa 2020; reflects the craftsmanship of A. Lange & Söhne and is constructed in three parts with alternating finishes. The caseback ring and bezel are polished, while the case middle features a contrasting brushed finish. The watch is powered by the calibre L141.1, a manually wound manufacture movement that beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour and offers 72 hours of power reserve, whose functional and aesthetic feature is the city ring, adjustable by pressing the pusher at 8 o’clock. The calibre is visible through the sapphire crystal caseback and is pure Saxon watchmaking art with blued screws, a nickel silver three-quarter plate, a mirror-polished swan-neck regulator and no less than two hand-engraved bridges. This Lange 1 Time Zone is offered with its original box and the relevant A. Lange & Söhne extract from the archives.
