Description
One of the most fascinating complications in haute horlogerie is that of jumping hours. In its classic form, a jumping hour timepiece is distinguished by the fact that it lacks the hour hand, which is usually displayed through a window on the dial, under which a disk clicks once an hour, jumping to indicate the next number. Since Franck Muller is a brand that shuns classic variations, it has given this complication a very particular interpretation with the Crazy Hours collection, one of the brand’s most popular and recognizable since 2003. Here there are both hands, for hours and minutes; what distinguishes the watch is the order of the “crazy” numbers on the dial. To read the time, the minute hand follows its traditional path, while the hour hand indicates the next hour by jumping here and there on the dial, looking for the next number, until it lands on the correct one. An apparently random movement because, in reality, the hand jumps five hours every five hours.
The Franck Muller Crazy Hours reference we are offering is the 7851 CH from 2005, featuring the Maison’s tonneau case, in rose gold, measuring 35 x 48 mm, 12 mm thick and consisting of two parts with polished and satin finishes. The dial has a blue background with a circular finish, white Arabic numeral indexes and rose gold diamond-shaped hands. The watch is powered by the 2800 V manufacture caliber, rhodium-plated, 21 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance, shock absorber, self-compensating flat hairspring and micrometric regulator.
The watch is in excellent condition and comes complete with accessories. This Crazy Hours is equipped with a blue alligator leather strap in tone with the dial, with a rose gold buckle.
