Description
Created in 2004 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Singapore-based watch retailer Sincere, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chrono featured here was created in a limited edition of 50 pieces with a light grey dial and 50 with a dark grey dial. Tay Liam Wee and Ong Ban, CEO and Executive Vice President of Sincere Watch, created this version, which is among the most desirable of the Royal Oak Offshores.
This stunning reference features a 44 mm steel case and a bezel and lugs made of tantalum, a metal once used in missile casings due to its high resistance to heat and chemicals. Audemars Piguet had previously used tantalum in its Royal Oaks, but had never before been used in an Offshore. The striking hue of tantalum pairs perfectly with both the elegant dark and light dials. The dial features the Le Brassus brand’s signature Grande Tapisserie grey dial with contrasting counters. The caseback is engraved with “Royal oak Offshore limited edition tantalum”. The octagonal bezel is secured to the case with visible screws, while the chronograph pushers and screw-down crown are finished in black rubber. Inside, it houses the Audemars Piguet self-winding movement 2226/2840 with a 38-hour power reserve and a 21-karat gold oscillating weight. The watch is presented on a grey alligator strap with contrasting stitching. It is sold with its extract from the archives and an exclusive Watch Insanity box and papers.
