Description
In the F.P. Journe collections, the so-called “Havana” dial is a statement of style. In a watch like the Automatique Lune, it is even more so. François-Paul Journe, together with Les Cadraniers de Genève, has created a unique color, unparalleled in the world of watchmaking and the result of the company’s proud independence, which guarantees the creative freedom of the Marseille Master.
Like all the works signed by F.P. Journe, this color is not the result of chance or improvisation. It was developed by the masters of Les Cadraniers de Genève, who only after several months of work and research achieved the result they wanted, in terms of color and material rendering. Havana brown is in fact born from a combination of gold and ruthenium, but to obtain the right color, many changes to the basic formula were necessary by the dial craftsmen. The Automatique Lune proposed here has a 40 mm platinum case and its warm brown silver dial, guilloché in the center, houses the moon phase indicator, visible through the aperture at 7:30 and made of sapphire, balanced by the small seconds indicator at 5 o’clock. The large date at 11 o’clock increases the readability and aesthetic balance of the watch thanks also to the presence, at 9 o’clock, of another hand to indicate the power reserve, which can reach up to 160 hours. A performance ensured by the Octa 1300.3 caliber which, like all the models in the Classique collection by F.P. Journe, is made of 18-carat rose gold with a unidirectional oscillating weight in 6-carat 22N gold mounted off-center. In this way, even the slightest movement of the wrist contributes to the winding of the movement, up to the maximum of the reserve. The watch proposed here is accompanied by its complete set and has just been serviced.
