IWC: Portugieser Chronograph Rattrapante Edition “Boutique Milano”

If in the nineties Milano was called the “Milanodabere” (“Milan to drink”, literally), in recent years the city of the Duomo is rather the “Milanodamangiare” (“Milan to eat”). Milan has experienced a real boom of food courts, with many new openings of restaurants, often gourmet ones, and many top-level chefs came to the city. Among these, Andrea Berton, starred chef from the Gualtiero Marchesi school, arrived in Milan first in the Trussardi alla Scala and then with his starred restaurant “Berton in Milan” and the two bistros Dry and Pisacco.

Berton is also a brand ambassador of IWC, a brand that established its presence in Milan with a boutique in 2016. IWC asked Berton to prepare a tasting specially designed for the cocktail presentation of its new Portugieser Chronograph Rattrapante Edition “Boutique Milano”, with a stainless steel case and an engraving on the back with the Visconti snake, the symbol of the city.

Already in 2016, on the occasion of the opening of the IWC boutique in Milan, the Schaffhausen-based brand launched a dedicated watch, the Portugieser Chronograph Rattrapante Edition “Boutique Milano” with a gold case and limited to 100 pieces. At the time, the timepiece was a huge success in Italy and was appreciated by many fans of watches, being an iconic model of the Swiss manufacture that was reintroduced after 10 years.

IWC is now launching a new version of the model in steel and in a limited and numbered edition of 150 pieces. The stainless-steel case of the Portugieser Chronograph Rattrapante Edition “Boutique Milano” has a diameter of 40.9 mm and houses the hand-wound 76240 calibre movement, with a power reserve of 44 hours. The watch is equipped with the characteristic third push-button for the rattrapante mechanism.

This elegant and sporty timepiece features a blue dial with a tachymeter and telemetric scale, golden hands and indexes and is completed by a black hand-finished alligator leather strap.

Together with the number of the limited edition “01/150”, the engraving on the back recalls the Visconti snake, the city’s coat of arms, to further seal the link with Milan.

The timepiece can be ordered through IWC’s flagship boutiques in Milan and Rome at the price of €.12.600.
