F1 Charity Night 2018: Fondazione Laureus Italia

This year again, Watch Insanity took part in the Laureus F1 Charity Night in Milan – the fundraising event organized by the Laureus Italia Onlus Foundation, which counts IWC among its Global Partners.

“Sport has the power to change the world,”

those are the words pronounced by Nelson Mandela, ‘godfather’ and inspiring figure of the Laureus movement.

For those who would still ignore it, Laureus is a Foundation leveraging sport as an educational tool, operating in the main Italian cities with the aim to help kids and teenagers who live in poor social and economic conditions.

Laureus

Since its establishment in 2005, Laureus developed and set out many different activity programs in the suburbs of Milan, Rome, and Naples, involving more than 1.500 children in over 20 different sports. Along the years, the Foundation has collaborated with more than 70 local organizations, engaging over 20 Ambassadors, sports champions and not only, in supporting the Italian projects.

Together with the Laureus Ambassadors, many guests attended the event to encourage kids and teenagers to play sports – among them, Fabio Capello, Alessandro Del Piero, Ciro Ferrara, Bebe Vio, David Coulthard, and many more.

During the evening, more than €.300.000 were raised; the money will help support the projects taking place in the Italian cities’ decaying suburbs.

The “Unique and Exclusive Pieces” auction featured the IWC Portofino Hand-Wound 8 Days Moon Phase – a beautiful, unique item: a 45mm Platinum case with a Blu Laureus dial, paired to a black alligator leather strap by Santoni.
