De Bethune: DB25 Starry Varius

“The cosmos, time, the heavens above… When you want to observe time in motion without any instruments, you look upwards. This is a recurrent theme in watchmaking”. The words are by Denis Flageollet, Master Watchmaker and creative talent of De Bethune.

The Geneva-based independent brand, founded in 2002, unveils the DB25 Starry Varius, a poetic interpretation of the DB25 with revisited lugs and a new 42mm titanium case.

Starry Varius

Over the past few years, star-studded dials have become an integral part of the history of the Maison. The new Starry Varius allows the customer to represent the night sky of his choice. In fact, according to a specific geographical location and a given date, the dial can be customised and the gold pins are fitted one by one on this star-studded sky, thus making each model truly unique. The Milky Way pattern is then gilded in the blued titanium dial using the traditional gold leaf technique and enhanced by laser beam micro milling.

The case has been reduced with respect to its predecessors and now measures 8.8mm thick, 42mm in diameter. Crafted in polished grade 5 titanium, it features perfectly integrated and openworked lugs.

Starry Varius

The DB25 Starry Varius is designed to be not only pleasant to wear, but above all to reflect the brand’s elegance and refinement. The display features discreetly hand-polished rose gold hands sweeping over exactly matching hour-markers set on a silver-toned ring.

The sapphire crystal case-back with its double anti-reflective coating reveals the impeccable craftsmanship of the movement incorporating the latest De Bethune technologies. Powered by the in-house mechanical manual winding DB2105 calibre oscillating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and with a power reserve of 6 days, the DB25 Starry Varius is equipped with the latest titanium balance wheel (2016 De Bethune innovation) as well as the triple pare-chute shock- absorbing system, patented by the brand in 2005.

The Manufacture from L’Auberson, owned by De Bethune, created a romantic, refined and customisable timepiece, equally suited to men’s or women’s wrists. A new star shining in the De Bethune constellation. Price CHF 72.000.
