A. Lange & Söhne: Lange1 Daymatic Honeygold
7 December 2025In several respects, 7 December represents a memorable day for A. Lange & Söhne. In 1845, Ferdinand Adolph Lange laid the cornerstone for German precision watchmaking in Glashütte on this very day. Yet it is also the day of the courageous fresh start that his great-grandson Walter Lange made ‒ in 1990, the year of German reunification. 35 years later, on the significant date of 7 December 2025, A. Lange & Söhne now launches the new LANGE 1 DAYMATIC HONEYGOLD, limited to 250 watches.

THE NEW LANGE 1 DAYMATIC HONEYGOLD
Introduced in 2010, the LANGE 1 DAYMATIC is unmistakeably a LANGE 1, yet offers a new perspective on the style-defining design that was awarded multiple prizes. The off-centre dial configuration of the manually wound LANGE 1 graces the LANGE 1 DAYMATIC as well, but the dial is a mirror image of the original: the hour and minute display is positioned on the right-hand side of the dial, the subsidiary seconds dial and the outsize date on the left.

Contrary to the classic LANGE 1, the LANGE 1 DAYMATIC is not equipped with a power- reserve indicator, but with a retrograde day-of-week display on the left periphery of the dial. This calendar function complements the characteristic outsize date and simultaneously underscores the individuality of the timepiece within the watch family.
A PERFECT BALANCE
The case of the LANGE 1 DAYMATIC HONEYGOLD exhibits balanced proportions and harmonious lines. With a diameter of 39.5 millimetres and a height of 10.4 millimetres, it assures a snug fit on the wrist and can be slipped under a shirt cuff. Subtly reworked, the lugs and bezel give the watch its particular air of lightness.

The fusion of a honey-gold case with a brown dial in 925 silver account for the unique and elegant appearance of the timepiece. Its radiant lustre is reflected in the hands, appliques and frame of the outsize date. Moreover, the dial offers a variety of expressive details, such as, for instance, the slightly recessed hour and minute circle that intensifies the three-dimensional effect of the dial. The outsize date is depicted in white numerals against a brown background ‒ a perfect match for the dial colour.

The LANGE 1 DAYMATIC HONEYGOLD is worn on a taupe-coloured, hand-stitched alligator leather strap secured with a buckle in solid honey gold.
IN-HOUSE EXCELLENCE
The balanced design and artisanal finish of the LANGE 1 DAYMATIC HONEYGOLD extend into the interior of the watch where its heart, the lavishly finished self-winding manufacture calibre L021.1, beats reliably. Its individual architecture is inspired by tradition and assures superb precision with a view to adjustment and assembly. This includes, for instance, the four separately screwed plates that visually constitute a classic three-quarter plate in the fully assembled movement.
Efficient winding and delivery of a constant force are assured by a large central rotor extending across the entire diameter of the movement. Its central segment in 875 gold (21 carats) is embossed with the “A. Lange & Söhne” signature and its centrifugal mass is made of 950 platinum.
The colourful composition of warm-hued gold, cool-toned platinum and cornflower-blue screws makes the rotor an eye-catching focal point of technical elegance. The four slender spokes cushion the heavy rotor in the case of shocks and protect the movement against high strain. When fully wound, a power reserve of 50 hours becomes available.

Further typical Lange quality hallmarks of the dedicated movement include an indexless oscillation system featuring a large balance wheel with eccentric poising weights, and a balance spring developed and crafted in-house that beats at a frequency of 21,600 semi-oscillations per hour. As is the case with all Lange calibres, the 426-part L021.1 movement is assembled twice and endowed with many traditional elements. The elaborate finissage of all components complies with the manufacture’s strictest standards regarding artisanal perfection. Traditional features such as the hand-engraved balance cock, Glashütte ribbing and screwed gold chatons provide fascinating highlights that can be admired through the sapphire-crystal caseback.
