Introduced in 1996 and extensively redesigned in 2004, the Vacheron Constantin Overseas stands as one of the most distinctive interpretations of luxury sports watchmaking. Its roots can be traced back to the iconic 222 of 1977, whose spirit lives on through a distinctive design, refined construction and a strong emphasis on functionality. With the arrival of the second generation, the collection took on a bolder identity, introducing new proportions and complications particularly suited to frequent travellers.
The reference 47450/B01A-9227 is a particularly compelling example of this evolution. Its 42 mm stainless steel casefeatures the signature bezel inspired by the Maltese cross, a motif echoed in the links of the integrated bracelet. The black dial, decorated with a distinctive geometric guilloché pattern, brings together several indications in a complex yet balanced layout. Alongside the central hours and minutes are a second time zone at 6 o'clock, a date display, a day/night indicator and a power reserve indicator, all arranged to maintain excellent legibility despite the number of functions.
At its heart is the automatic calibre 1222 SC, which allows two time zones to be tracked simultaneously and delivers a power reserve of approximately 40 hours. This mechanical sophistication perfectly reflects the Overseas philosophy, combining elegance and practicality with a distinctly sporty character. The watch also features water resistance rated to 150 metres, a screw-down crown and a solid caseback adorned with the signature Overseas medallion.
Dating from circa 2007, this example is offered in New Old Stock (NOS) condition, having never been worn and remaining in its original state. A particularly desirable feature for a second-generation Overseas, especially as it comes complete with its original box and documentation.
