DESCRIPTION
The GMT-Master II is a collection in which Rolex has long enjoyed experimenting with the use of precious materials and color combinations that, over the years, have given rise to watches that have become the dream of many collectors. Among these timepieces is the GMT-Master II “Tiger Eye,” featuring a tiger’s eye dial — a particularly rare and refined model distinguished by a brown sunburst dial reminiscent of the natural stone known as “tiger’s eye.” This unique dial lends the watch a striking and sophisticated appearance.
The Rolex GMT-Master II Ref. 16713 “Tiger Eye” presented here dates back to 2007 and, in addition to its distinctive dial color, is enhanced by the steel and gold combination that defines the bracelet, bezel, and case. The latter measures 40 mm and houses the automatic calibre 3185, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and providing approximately 50 hours of power reserve.
This example is also fitted with the so-called “SEL” bracelet, meaning “Solid End Links.” This designation refers to bracelets whose end links are solid. Until around 2000, Rolex almost always used Oyster bracelets on its sports watches with folded, hollow end links attached to the case by a spring bar. These were later replaced by solid end links, machined from a single piece and connected to the rest of the bracelet using the same system that joins the fixed links together, without the removable case-attachment bar. From 2000 onward, Rolex adopted this system across all sports models, except for the Ref. 14060M, the only reference never to feature the SEL bracelet. The watch offered here is full set.
