There comes a moment when a project doesn’t change direction, but deepens. The new Greubel Forsey Balancier GF09CX is born exactly like this: as an evolution of the Balancier 3, first introduced in 2023 and now presented in a new limited edition of 22 pieces. It is not a break from the past, but a step forward built with precision. The identity remains intact, yet the way it is perceived changes, above all through surfaces, light and depth.
DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURE: CONVEXE TITANIUM CASE AND THREE-DIMENSIONAL CONSTRUCTION
The foundation is the 41.50mm Convexe titanium case, designed to follow the natural curvature of the wrist. This is not simply an aesthetic choice, but a solution that connects ergonomics and architecture. The three-dimensional bezel with variable geometry and the domed sapphire crystal create continuity between exterior and interior, naturally guiding the eye into the movement.

At its core remains the Balancier 3, built around a structure that is clear from the outset. Three main bridges define the space: the barrel bridge, the balance bridge, and the central bridge, which supports the hours and minutes while extending towards the small seconds disc. Everything is visible, everything is readable. Nothing is hidden, and each element contributes to a coherent whole.
The most evident evolution lies in the finishing. The balance and barrel bridges are crafted in polished titanium, preserving a bright, reflective presence within the architecture. In contrast, the central bridge introduces an entirely new treatment: a deep hand-brushed finish executed with a steel brush on a curved titanium surface. The result is a strong contrast between matte and polished surfaces, enhanced by polished bevels that define the contours with precision. This is further enriched by the different shades of blue, which guide the eye through the layers of the movement, improving both readability and depth.
CALIBRE AND PERFORMANCE: GREUBEL FORSEY BALANCE WHEEL AND 72-HOUR POWER RESERVE
At the heart of the watch is the Greubel Forsey variable inertia balance wheel, measuring 12.60mm in diameter and fitted with six gold adjustment screws. The movement is composed of 282 components and is powered by two fast-rotating barrels in series, delivering a 72-hour chronometric power reserve.
The structure remains faithful to the original concept: hours and minutes suspended on the central bridge, small seconds displayed on a rotating disc with a fixed indicator, and the power reserve visible directly on the movement. There is no separation between function and architecture, but a complete integration that makes the mechanics part of the visual experience.
CONCLUSION: A LIMITED EDITION THAT EVOLVES WITHOUT CHANGING
Limited to 22 pieces, the Greubel Forsey Balancier GF09CX represents an evolution expressed through detail. It does not alter the original project, but develops it, introducing new expressive possibilities in the treatment of titanium and the handling of curved surfaces.
It is a change that reveals itself up close, in the way light interacts with the finishes and in how the structure takes shape before the eye. A quiet, yet tangible evolution.
