Crafted in\u00a018k white gold, the case measures\u00a037 mm\u00a0and is distinguished by its long, pronounced and slightly flared lugs, giving the watch considerably more presence than its dimensions might suggest. Classical proportions, but with a personality that truly comes to life on the dial.<\/p>\n
Across the upper half, the\u00a0central date hand\u00a0travels along a wide arc numbered from 1 to 31. At the end of the cycle, rather than completing a full rotation, it rapidly returns to its starting point: it is precisely this backwards motion that gives the\u00a0retrograde\u00a0complication its name. At 6 o\u2019clock, a separate subdial indicates the\u00a0day of the week, completing a calendar display that is mechanically distinctive yet remarkably intuitive to read.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0silvered guilloch\u00e9 dial\u00a0keeps everything beautifully balanced, combining applied Roman numerals with circular white-gold hour markers. Despite the calendar indications occupying a significant portion of the dial, the overall composition remains clean and perfectly legible: here, the complication does not overwhelm the design, but ultimately defines it.<\/p>\n
Inside is the\u00a0automatic Calibre 1126\/1, with\u00a036 jewels and up to 48 hours of power reserve. The movement is based on the\u00a0Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 889\u00a0and paired with the\u00a0R31 module, developed in-house by Vacheron Constantin\u00a0to control the retrograde date and day-of-the-week indication. It is a particularly interesting combination: a proven automatic base upon which the manufacture builds the complication that gives the watch its distinctive identity.<\/p>\n
The movement is visible through the\u00a0sapphire crystal caseback, secured by four screws. Its oscillating weight features a\u00a021k gold peripheral segment, leaving much of the calibre\u2019s architecture visible and adding another point of interest when the watch is viewed from the back.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0black alligator strap, paired with a Vacheron Constantin white-gold pin buckle, completes a deliberately understated configuration. White gold, a silvered dial and restrained colour contrasts allow the geometry of the retrograde calendar and the proportions of the case to define the watch\u2019s character.<\/p>\n
