The appeal of some of Rolex\u2019s most iconic watches also lies in the nicknames enthusiasts have given them over time. Names such as Batman, Root Beer, Pepsi, Hulk or Kermit have become firmly embedded in the language of collectors, often replacing the official references altogether. An immediate way to identify specific Submariner and GMT-Master II models, based on the association between their colour schemes and the characters or elements that inspired their nicknames.<\/p>\n

The focus of this offering is the Rolex Submariner Ref. 16610, known as the \u201cKermit\u201d, a clear reference to the famous frog from The Muppet Show, echoed by the green bezel. Introduced in 2003 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Submariner, this model marks a significant step in the evolution of the collection. It represents a fourth-generation Submariner distinguished precisely by its green bezel, a colour closely associated with the Geneva-based maison.<\/p>\n

Beyond the bezel, the dial also introduced an important evolution: the so-called \u201cMaxi dial\u201d, featuring larger hour markers and hands designed to enhance legibility and visual presence. Otherwise, the Kermit retains all the characteristics that have made the Submariner a benchmark: a 40 mm stainless steel Oyster case (12.8 mm thick), Triplock screw-down crown with crown guards, screw-down caseback, flat sapphire crystal with Cyclops lens, and water resistance up to 300 metres.<\/p>\n

Inside beats the manufacture calibre 3135, a COSC-certified automatic movement with approximately 48 hours of power reserve and an antimagnetic Parachrom hairspring. The subsequent Ref. 126610LV introduced notable updates, including a ceramic bezel replacing the aluminium one, along with the calibre 3235, offering an extended power reserve of approximately 70 hours.<\/p>\n
