The history of the Breguet Marine collection has distant origins, as its name derives from the title of \u201chorloger de la Marine Royale\u201d awarded to Abraham-Louis Breguet in 1815. In 1990, the Maison connected with this history to present the Marine collection, inspired by the classic look and technical grandeur of marine chronometers. The line, refreshed in 2018, is still one of the Maison’s pillars and, in the past, has hosted models of great charm such as the Marine Chronograph Ref. 3460BA, which we present here in a 1992 example with a 36 mm yellow gold case and complete set.<\/p>\n
The reference in question is distinguished by the stylish details that characterize Breguet’s watches, introduced by Daniel Roth when he took over as artistic director of the manufacture. The dial is in finely worked gold with a clous de Paris guilloch\u00e9 motif, typical of the Maison’s finishes. The hour markers are in Roman numerals and the Breguet \u00e0 pomme \u00e9vid\u00e9e hands; the dial features the continuous seconds counter at 6 o’clock, the chronograph minutes counter at 3 o’clock, and the chronograph hours counter at 9 o’clock. At 6 o’clock there is also the date window with quick reset from the crown, which is a priest’s hat crown with Breguet engraving, flanked by the pump chronograph pushers.<\/p>\n
The case, characterized by the closed gold case back and the sides with the “coin” workmanship typical of the brand, houses the Breguet 576 self-winding mechanical caliber, made on the Frederic Piguet 1185 base and set in five isochronism positions.
