The Patek Philippe Nautilus is a cult object and represents, even today, the \u201csporty-elegant\u201d combination par excellence. The reference 3800, born in 1981, was developed to mitigate the slow start of the original model and to \u201cdress up\u201d thinner wrists. Like all Nautilus models, it has the iconic \u201cporthole\u201d architecture with a one-piece case back – case construction and a bezel secured to the side lugs by four horizontal screws.<\/p>\n
The dial is unmistakable: dark shaded tone with engraved horizontal relief, applied tritium hour markers, polished baton spheres (with luminous inserts) and date window at 3 o’clock. The indexes and hands are made of yellow gold, as suggested by the letter \u201csigma\u201d at the bottom of the dial. As with the original Reference 3700 (also known as ‘Jumbo’), the case and integrated bracelet in 18-carat yellow gold are expertly finished, with angular, bevelled and polished edges. The polished screws, bezel and case edges in contrast to the brushed surface of the case and bracelet give the watch great appeal. Its diameter of 37.5 millimetres and thickness of only 7.5 millimetres also make the Nautilus 3800 incredibly comfortable and versatile.<\/p>\n
It houses the in-house manufactured 330\/134 SC calibre with \u201ccentre seconds\u201d and quickset functions, which replaces the 335 SC (second series). The movement has 29 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 oscillations per hour (A\/h), unidirectional rotor and balance spring with balance wheel compensated by regulating masses (Gyromax) and Hallmark of Geneva.
