Aventurine dates back to the 17th century with some of the\u00a0<strong>first records coming from Murano, Venice, a town famous for its glass making<\/strong>. The process consists of\u00a0<strong>adding copper oxide to glass to give it a mesmerising twinkle that mirrors the starry night sky<\/strong>. This\u00a0<strong>manufacture manual-winding movement<\/strong>\u00a0featured the time at eight o\u2019clock and the tourbillon at two o\u2019clock. With 157 ultra-thin and ultra-light components, such as a\u00a0<strong>carriage measuring a mere 2.88mm<\/strong>, three titanium bridges weighing no more than 0.2g, and\u00a0<strong>some components measuring no more than the thickness of a human hair<\/strong>, the Piaget Altiplano Tourbillon is a feat of engineering. The\u00a0<strong>lugs and the crown are set with 13 brilliant-cut diamonds<\/strong>\u00a0(approx. 0.19 ct) while\u00a0<strong>the bezel is adorned with 48 baguette-cut diamonds<\/strong>\u00a0(approx. 2.06 cts). This Altiplano timepiece, animated by the\u00a0<strong>Piaget Manufacture 670P Tourbillon caliber\u00a0<\/strong>with\u00a0<strong>48 hours of power reserve<\/strong>, comes with a\u00a0<strong>sapphire case back<\/strong>\u00a0that provides a stunning view of this ultra-thin movement. It is paired with a\u00a0<strong>dark blue alligator strap with an 18K white gold clasp adorned with 24 brilliant-cut diamonds<\/strong>\u00a0(approx.\u00a00.06 ct).
