Yes, you noticed right, it’s them, in steel/gold and plexy… We’re talking about 3 Rolex Daytona Ref. 6265 NOS “New Old Stock” in all their beauty, how the Swiss Maison produced them… and never worn by anybody.

The three chronographs Rolex Daytona 6265 with a 37mm manual winding caliber and screw down pushers comes straight from early 70’s, and they’ve been produced until the approximately mid-80’s. The reference 6265 differentiate itself from its predecessors thank to several modifications that Rolex did through the years, like the water resistance, that from 50mt became 100mt, the writing DAYTONA in red positioned around the hours counter (only in the second series), the writing on the dial SUPERLATIVE CHRONOMETER OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED (only in the gold models), and the Oyster bracelet in steel, where the folded links have been substituted with the full ones (only in the second series).

Despite the three models belonging to the same reference “6265” and looking similar –or equal- well… of course, they are not! Beyond the different dial colors and case materials, we can easily find some of the above-mentioned features. Between the two steel models, the differences are not only in the dial colors (one comes silver with black counters and another is black with white counters) but in the two bezels. In the first (silver dial) the metallic grade bezel has a black tachometric scale, while in the second (black dial) we can find a metallic bezel with black plastic insert and a white tachometric scale.

But the biggest differences are between the steel and the gold model… Analyzing the both dials we can notice that in the steel one at, 12 o’clock, there are the writings Rolex, Oyster, Cosmograph, and slightly below, around the hours counter, the writing Daytona in red; while in the gold version, always at 12 o’clock, is written Rolex, Oyster, Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified, and slightly below, around the hours counter there is the writing Cosmograph.

You can imagine those masterpieces -beyond being very rare- are also extremely valuables. It’s extraordinary finding such vintage timepieces today, so well preserved, original in every small detail… and full trilogy set!

We don’t know what holds Mister X to not wear those beauties until today, but we truly thank him for sharing his great passion with us.
