Hands & Bulls: Roger Dubuis Excalibur Aventador S Blue

The ongoing partnership – launched in 2017 – between Roger Dubuis and Lamborghini Squadra Corse is now enriched with a new model, Excalibur Aventador S Blue. We already wrote about that version during SIHH, and today we will get deeper into the topic, with a different approach.

Lamborghini

Aventador is the name of a bull owned by the family of Don Celestino Quadri Vides; in October 1993 the animal won the “Trofeo de la Peña La Madroñera” trophy in the Zaragoza arena, for proving its incredible courage during the fight. On wheels, this courage can only mean one thing: to be ready to take on future challenges while maintaining a pure classical value.

The design of the new Aventador S is inspired by Reventón and Estoque, while underneath its skin are hidden a carbon fiber monocoque, suspensions similar to those of the Formula 1, and a 6.5 V12 of 700 HP – an exceptional quality which powers up to a speed of 350 km/h and can reach 100 km/h in only 2.9 seconds.

The suspensions’ particular compartment inspired the creation of this Roger Dubuis watch. The movement includes a double sprung inspired by the lengthwise position of the Lamborghini engines, and is supported by devices shaped on the triangular suspension systems.

Through the Excalibur Aventador S body – emphasized just like the Lamborghini engines through transparent hoods – the Duotor RD103SQ caliber is perfectly visible, with its hand-wound charger and a 40-hour power reserve.

Aventador S is the first car to adopt an LRS system (Lamborghini Rear wheel steering); at low speed the rear axle turns opposite to the front axle, thus creating a virtual decrease of the speed; while at high speed they turn in parallel, simulating a speed increase.

The supercar is equipped with a series including LDVA (Lamborghini Dynamic Vehicle Active) as well: a four different settings system controlling every axle of the car, from the more even-tempered “SPORT,” to “ROAD” and “RACE,” up to a setting tailor-made for the client: “EGO.” Another particular feature for this new model is the immoderate use of C-SMC carbon, employed both in the body and in the inside coverings, as it is the same for the 45mm case of the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Aventador S Blue.

More references are intertwined within this splendid watch-car union, such as the red and black rehaut with its index numbers, and the lunette incised with blue numbers – clearly inspired by the shift light indicator in the middle of the car dashboard, of the same color. The bi-material strap with black rubber base and Neptune blue inlay with red stitching perfectly fits the case colors, and those of our Lamborghini, featured in a beautiful blue Nila shade.

Before the Aventador, only four models (Miura, Islero, Countach e Urraco) had been engraved with the letter S. Today, the Excalibur can claim that reward.
